Guensley R. Delva, MD

Double Board-Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine

Dr. Guensley Delva earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and then obtained a master’s degree in education from Mercy College in New York. He worked as a special education teacher for the Department of Education in New York City, an experience that played a major role in shaping his approach to medicine, which focuses on education and continuity of care for patients. It was this background as an educator that inspired his entry into the field of medicine, after he served as a health advocate for the Haitian community in Philadelphia while earning a post-baccalaureate certificate at Drexel University.

He completed his medical degree at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, followed by an internship at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey. Dr. Delva went on to finish an anesthesiology residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City, as well as an interventional pain medicine fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The blend of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology in the field of Pain Medicine was a natural direction from anesthesiology, and the combination allows Dr. Delva to make a difference in both the outcomes and lives of his patients.
